4 Reasons the NASCAR Hall of Fame Is a Must-See

January 8th, 2021 by

There’s a reason why we’ve watched races for centuries: there’s nothing more thrilling than flying by at blinding speeds. The NASCAR Hall of Fame is where the greatest of those races live on. From interactive exhibits, racing simulations, nostalgic artifacts, and events at the High Octane Theater, there’s hands-on fun for everyone no matter their age.

1. Virtual Simulation

Experience the thrill of racing with your friends behind the wheel of one of eight NASCAR replicas fitted with virtual reality technology. It’s the same software that NASCAR premier drivers use to train for upcoming races. The tracks change weekly, and up to 15 competitors appear in each simulation, so you may find yourself pitted against your favorite driver. The experience is even wheelchair accessible.

When the race is over, try out other positions. How fast can you do a pit-stop? Learn what goes into a race car and build your own in the Virtual Design Booth. Stop by the Champions Case to get some ideas: artifacts from historical victors of various NASCAR racing series are on display, including Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s last premier series race car from Homestead-Miami Speedway!

2. Historical Learning

The Heritage Speedway sheds light on the competitive history and technical prowess of the races through the years, answering any and all questions you might have through an interactive experience. The fourth Glory Road installment of champions features cars hand-picked by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and was installed in 2020.

It features a lineup of 18 premiere series championship cars from some of the most memorable races in NASCAR. Speedways new and old from across the country are portrayed as well. Guests can touch various tracks to experience first-hand the sort of road that drivers faced week-to-week.

3. Guided Tours

The fun doesn’t end just at the NASCAR Hall of Fame building. Private tours like the Racing Insider allow guests to visit various racing attractions around the local Charlotte area. It’s an all-inclusive, informative, guided experience of the historical attractions mentioned above.

The local race-shops visited offer behind-the-scenes experiences with the renowned facilities where legends are born and made. See pit-stop practice at work, people in the industry working on active cars, and maybe even a driver or crew-chief if you’re lucky. The best part? A general admission ticket to the NASCAR Hall of Fame good for up to 90 days after your tour is included, just to keep the fun going.

Take a Ride to Visit

You don’t have to be an avid fan of racing to feel the passion and history of NASCAR come alive. Whether it’s through realistic driving simulators, discovering artifacts and exhibits from the most thrilling moments in history, a guided tour, or a stop at the Gear Shop for a souvenir to commemorate it all, the NASCAR Hall of Fame is sure to give you and your family a ride you won’t forget.

We love NASCAR, too, so stop in at South Charlotte Chevrolet today to see our selection or ask about our favorite Hall of Fame exhibits!
